Heart and Mediastinum - Lecture 5

Learning Objectives

  • Be able to identify key anatomic structures on the adult AP and lateral chest x-ray
  • Be able to identify key anatomic structures on the pediatric AP and lateral chest x-ray
  • Know the location of the esophagus and thoracic duct and the role of contrast in evaluation
  • Know the chambers of the heart and their appearance in different imaging modalities
  • Understand angiography and the structures being evaluated with right heart catheterization
  • Understand the structures being evaluated with left heart catheterization
  • Be able to identify the great vessels in the axial plane and by angiogram
  • Know the anatomy of the coronary vessels and the tissues supplied by each major branch

Assignments - Thorax: Chest Wall, Breast, Pleura, Lungs

  1. "Chest" chapter in Radiologic AnatomyŠ computer program.
  2. Take "On-line Quiz" on chest before October 28 (date of Unit II exam) You can take the online quiz up to five times. I will use your best score.. (Note: you are encouraged to practice by using the "self evaluation" feature in the Radiologic Anatomy © program.)
