Learning Objectives Lungs and Pleura

• Understand the anatomy of the breast
• Understand the anatomy of the lungs and the differences between the left and right lobes
• Understand the primary branches of the bronchi
• Understand the pleura and how its anatomy contributes to respiration
• Understand the appearance of the chest wall, lungs, bronchi and pleura on a variety of imaging modalities

Preparation: Review the lecture slides and your copy of the notes. Go to the Radiologic Anatomy site (Chest: Chest Wall, Lungs and Pleura) and do the self evaluation for ALL questions and ALL topics. If you spend an hour doing this, you should see every question at least once. When you start to get bored because you have seen everything before you can probably stop. Test questions will come directly from this material.

Learning Objectives Heart and Mediastinum

• Be able to identify key anatomic structures on the adult AP and lateral chest x-ray
• Be able to identify key anatomic structures on the pediatric AP and lateral chest x-ray
• Know the location of the esophagus and thoracic duct and the role of contrast in evaluation
• Know the chambers of the heart and their appearance in different imaging modalities
• Understand angiography and the structures being evaluated with right heart catheterization
• Understand the structures being evaluated with left heart catheterization
• Be able to identify the great vessels in the axial plane and by angiogram
• Know the anatomy of the coronary vessels and the tissues supplied by each major branch

Learning Objectives Head and Neck

• Understand the how different imaging modalities depict the head and neck anatomy
• Realize how anatomic depiction of the head and neck can translate into clinical utility
• Identify the anatomy of the orbit in different imaging planes on MRI and CT
• Identify the anatomy of the sinuses on CT and radiographs
• Appreciate the complexity of the Temporal Bone
• Be able to identify the main anatomical structures in the neck on CT, MRI, and barium swallow
• Use imaging to better understand the vascular anatomy of the neck
