Isolation and Loneliness in the Elderly
Family Support
- Meeting with a person in the family that the elderly client identifies as supportive can be helpful in assessing and planning for family support that is reasonable for the family and most helpful to the client
- This may be as simple as having the elderly person over for dinner once a week or calling on a regular basis
- Knowing that a regular contact will be made can decrease the anxiety about when and if the contact will be made
It can decrease the feeling of being isolated
