NOTE: These instructions are for wireless within Shands Hospital and associated clinics only. This documentation assumes that you already understand the basics of using wireless (aka Airport) with OSX.
[Working on this part.]
Follow directions on the Shands Wireless Web site.
There are two places you can do this: the menu bar icon or the Internet Connect application.

Open System Preferences and go to the Network pane. Select Show Airport. If your laptop has not been registered for use on the HSC network, make a note of the Airport ID. You will need this to register your laptop with Healthnet (the combined Health Center network).
Select TCP/IP and set Configure IPv4 to Using DHCP.

Download and unzip the Shands Encryption Certificate. Double-click on resulting funk1.shands.ufl.cer file. This should open Keychain Assess and prompt you to add the certificate. Do this. You should now have a certificate for funk1.shands.ufl.edu as show here.
Go to the Internet Connect application and click on the 802.1X icon. The icon may not appear in the toolbar if this is the first time it's been used. To make it appear, go to the File menu and select New 802.1X connection....
Select Edit Configurations.... Name this new configuration Shands Wireless or somthing similar. Put in your user name and password as instructed by Shands IS staff. They are likely to be the same as your Citrix or ESA signon. The wireless network name is 'shc' (Shands Health Care). For authentication, make sure that PEAP is the only item checked. Do not click on the Configure... button, it is not needed in this context. Click OK to save your configuration.

If you aren't there already, go to an area inside Shands where wireless is available. Click on the Connect button. The first time you do this, you may be prompted to accept a second certificate for the server. Do this. You should then see confirmation of a good connection in both Internet Connect and the menu bar. Bring up a browser and access the Web. If all has gone well, pages should appear normally within a few seconds. That's it!
Depending on how you have your computer setup, it may reaquire the network automatically each time you return to Shands. If you need to reconnect manually, use the 802.1X panel in Internet Connect.
