Why Did Education Take the Lead?
- Education had more to "gain"; the other activities had more to "lose".
- It was easier to track changes in faculty size and composition relative to their original and unique mission of the medical school.
- It was easier to access data over time relating to statefunding to the College of Medicine.
- It apparently was more difficult to measure effort and quality in research and clinical care than in education.
