Era of Native American and Spanish Medicine
- 1513 - Juan Ponce de Leon discovers the Florida Penninsula
- 1564 - Jacques le Moyne de Morques describes the Timucuan Indian culture
- 1700 - Last Timucuan Indians
- 1720 - First Seminoles in North Florida
- 1817 - Arredondo Grant, centered in Micanopy
- 1817 - First Seminole War
- 1821 - Florida Territory ceded to U.S. from Spain
- 1823 - Dr. Samuel Ayers appointed to first white settlement at Micanopy; departs same year
- 1829 - Alachua County created (stretches from Georgia to Tampa Bay)
- 1835 - Second Seminole War
- 1836 - Fort Micanopy abandoned due to unhealthy conditions
