Cumulative Exercise
- Choose a health-related topic of interest to you. Your goal is to use the different search tools to find five high-quality web resources. Write down the URL of any site, at any point in your search, which may help meet this goal.
- Search on your topic using a meta-engine. Notice how many sites were retrieved in each engine; scan the hits to get a sense of the results in each.
- Next, try to narrow your search by using the advanced features of any search engine. Notice the quantity and type of hits.
- Now, use one of the health megasites to locate resources.
- Utilize the Five-Star Criteria (AABCC) to evaluate the quality of each resource.
- Which tool provided the best information?
- Which was the most convenient to use?
