Requirements

Academics:

By the end of the second year of undergraduate work, applicants must complete the following courses:

  1. Biology - 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours).
  2. General (Inorganic) Chemistry - 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours).
  3. Organic Chemistry - 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours) OR Organic Chemistry - 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours) Biochemistry 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours) AND
  4. Calculus - 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)
  5. General Physics - 8 semester hours (may be completed in the junior year).
  6. The University's general education requirements in English, social sciences and humanities.

Applicants must have an overall GPA of at least 3.7 in the above courses. In addition, applicants must achieve an SAT score of at least 1200.

Volunteer Activities:

Applicants must be able to demonstrate volunteer and service activity in medical and/or non-medical areas.

Research:

Prior involvement in research is not a requirement. However, it is an advantage in that JHMP students perform an Honors Research thesis.
