Essentials of Patient Care II

Catalogue Number: BMS 6016

Welcome to Essentials of Patient Care! This is “EPC II,” the second semester of a four semester introduction to clinical medicine. It is our goal to provide a bridge from the basic sciences to clinical medicine in the two year EPC course continuum. We aim to provide the tools and experiences to develop competent and compassionate physicians. This course will prepare you for EPC III and IV, and your career in clinical medicine. In those courses, in addition to perfecting your communication skills, you will learn to integrate the history and physical examination findings with the scientific basis of disease and develop a differential diagnosis and treatment plan. One of the unique features of the course is the ability for students to interact in an intimate setting with clinical faculty and peers. This provides a nurturing setting in which to learn communication, physical exam, and clinical decision making skills.
