IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU FIRST NAVIGATE TO THE SECTION AND TEXT PAGES. PRINTING THE CONTENT OF THESE PAGES AND USING THEM AS REFERENCE WHILE VIEWING THE ILLUSTRATION WILL HELP YOU GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS SITE!!!
Much of the html code used to create the interactive graphics in "TRIGEMINAL NERVE ANATOMY" can only be understood by version 4.0 browsers or higher (i.e.-layers contained in the study page). Before using the site, please upgrade to Netscape 4.0, Internet Explorer 4.0, or higher.
"TRIGEMINAL NERVE ANATOMY" uses graphics containing text. To make this text legible, the site was designed to be viewed on a monitor at least 800 x 600 pixels in dimension (a standard 17-inch PC monitor) displaying a standard web browser window. Page height was restricted to 420 pixels, which should allow room for standard web browser task bars above and below pages without causing vertical scroll bars to appear. Some users may need to view the site in "full screen" mode if their browser has wider than usual task bars.
Resize your browser window until the entire page including navigation bar is visible (the widest navigation bar is approximately 790 pixels). You may need to "reload" or "refresh" the page each time you attempt to resize as graphics sometimes scramble.
On monitors smaller than 800 X 600 pixels, the entire navigation bar will not be visible and scroll bars will not appear to control the navigation bar. However, the primary page content will always default to scroll bars if the screen is too small. Accordingly, the site can be used by those with monitors smaller than 800 x 600 pixels though viewing graphics and site navigation will be much more difficult.
The complicated interactive graphics within this site require significant download times. Users have the option of preloading all graphics prior to entering the site. This requires an initial "download" that will take approximately ******* minutes (with a**** modem) and use approximately 2.5 Megabytes of disk space. The advantage is much faster site navigation once the initial preload is complete. Alternatively, the user may view the site without preloading graphics and wait for an individual page's graphics to load as it is accessed for the first time. If you know you will only be using a single page during a particular session (i.e. the Anatomy page before lab), this option is the fastest.
BUTTONS: The buttons on the home
page appear throughout the site and are used to navigate from one page to another.
Buttons will automatically dim as you move the mouse over them, but you must
click on them to jump to the desired page.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU PRINT THE CONTENTS OF THE SECTION AND TEXT PAGES BEFORE BEGINNING TO STUDY THE TRIGEMINAL NERVE. USING THESE PRINTOUTS AS REFERENCE WHILE VIEWING THE ILLUSTRATION WILL HELP YOU GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS SITE!!!
Once you have properly sized your window to view the entire page and ALLOWED THE ENTIRE PAGE TO LOAD (watch the status bar in the lower left), use the "hide" and "show" buttons to remove and replace individual nerve components from the diagram (these buttons will not jump you to another page). Studying the components one at a time makes the labels easier to read and helps you avoid "information overload"! The buttons at the right of the navigation bar can be used to jump to other pages as usual. Unfortunately, you can not jump directly to the review page from the study page the quickest way is to jump home first.
Resize your browser window until the entire page including navigation bar is visible (the navigation bar is at the bottom of the page) and ALLOW THE ENTIRE PAGE TO LOAD (watch the status bar in the lower left). You will probably need to "reload" or "refresh" the page each time you resize as the graphics may "scramble." Point and click on structures on the diagram on the left to see the corresponding "answers" on the screen on the right. Sometimes the browser will display a regular mouse pointer, sometimes a hand with pointing finger, but both will work the same. Unfortunately, every single pixel in the graphic is not represented in the image map used to display the answers (I tried !). This means you may occasionally have good enough aim to hit one of the pixels I didn't map. If this happens, the pointer will usually change into a flashing text bar and the answer you were looking for won't appear. Simply move the mouse off of the illustration until your pointer reappears. Try again and repeat as necessary.
Use the table of contents to navigate within the main anatomy page and link to full-screen images by clicking on the small images on the main anatomy page. START WITH THE "OVERVIEW IMAGE WITH PHOTOENHANCEMENT" - IT'S THE MOST FUN TO USE AND DEMONSTRATES THE ANATOMIC RELATIONSHIPS AMONG ALL MAJOR BRANCHES OF THE TRIGEMINAL NERVE. ALLOW THE ENTIRE IMAGE TO LOAD (watch the status bar in the lower left) before attempting to photoenhance, hide, or show layers.
