Essentials of Patient Care IV - Summer 2010 (BMS 6834)
Prerequisite: BMS 6830. Essentials of Patient Care (EPC) IV builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessors Essentials of Patient Care I ? III. Students will evaluate patients in a variety of settings to help develop advanced communication and medical interviewing skills, physical exam techniques, and clinical decision-making approaches. The course meets throughout the Spring semester and combines didactic lectures, standardized patient experiences in the Harrell Assessment Center, and actual patient encounters on hospital wards, clinics, or in the Emergency Department. Students will participate in clinical decision-making exercises in combined EPC/Clinical Diagnosis Small Groups.
