A 24 year old female (note that the case says 44 year old female, however 24 years is a more representative age) comes into the clinic presenting with sudden onset of chills, cough, and pleuritic pain. She is feverish. Wheezing and rales are heard bilaterally. She also has an accompanying upper respiratory tract infection. Labs: Inclusion bodies in Giemsa stain. Obligate intracellular bacteria. |
