ANS R 1 - Anesthesiology - Life Support and Perioperative Medicine

COURSE GOALS: During this course the student will learn the basics of airway management, mechanical ventilation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, management of fluids, and use of vasoactive medications. In addition, the student will be taught concepts of preoperative evaluation, basic principles of anesthesia and management of acute postoperative complications.

COURSE MATERIALS: Students will be given a handout on the first day of rotation as well as a web page.

MEETING PLACE AND TIME: Location: TBA, Time: 8:00 a.m

LENGTH: 2 weeks

It is recommended that students remain in the 2nd two weeks for additional experience and procedures.

ENROLLMENT LIMIT: 14 maximum
OFFERED: First two weeks of Periods 2-10
CREDIT OFFERED: 100% of 2 weeks = 2 credits
BASIC OR CLINICAL SCIENCE: Clinical
