Hyperglycemia
- Ensure diet is ADA.
- Illness worsens glycemic control.
- Adjust medication regimen. Correlate the time of the readings to time of meds.
- Complications can include DKA and nonketotic hyperosmolar coma.
- Insulin sliding scale is a band aid approach when the first three suggestions fail.
