Cephalization is the reversal of the normal vascular pattern in upright individuals (ie. the upper lobe vessels would be larger, more prominent than the lower lobe vessels). Cephalization is a manifestation of chronic left heart failure but it is not seen in acute heart failure, ie. Acute myocardial infarction leading to left heart failure leading to pulmonary edema.
