Medication Effects

Speaking of hidden ingredients, I remember a patient that I saw once when I was in training -- the medical resident said to me "Doering, you're not going to have much fun today because your patient is only taking four different medications." And I said, "Well let me be the judge of that." He said "She's taking Serapis, Fiorinal #3, Triaminic Expectorant DH, and the drug Septra."

Well my eyes lit up knowing, of course, that each one of those medications was a multi-ingredient product. Keeping in mind that Serapis, it's a little bit old and outdated now, not a lot of people prescribe it anymore, but Serapis was a anti-hypertensive medication consisting of three medications: reserpine, hydralazine, and hydrochlorothiazide.
