Also, we know that well-learned information will be retained in the mind. Once we learn something, once we have it committed to memory, we don't forget it any faster just because we are over age 60.
What does this mean for the older adult? It means that we should all take the extra time we need to learn new information, review it repeatedly, try to connect the new information to meaningful things that are already known to us. This extra effort will definitely pay off.
