Normal Aging Changes to Memory -- Attention

Now, the A in LACK stands for attention. Attention is the most basic step needed for memory.

If you don't believe me, just try to remember the details on a penny. Most people don't know which way Lincoln is facing, and they can't tell you which side of his face has the date, because they have never paid attention to it.

Attention is critical for remembering, and unfortunately, attention deficits do occur with normal aging.
