The current recommendations for colorectal cancer screening alone are to perform Digital Rectal Examination with each endoscopy - that is, every 5 to 10 years.

In conjunction with recommendations for prostate cancer and gynecologic malignancy, the current recommendations are for Digital Rectal Examination to be included in the annual examination of patients over the age of 40.
