Now again, I'd like to remind you that squamous cell carcinomas are capable of metastasis and so when one sees a patient with squamous cell carcinoma that's at high risk for metastasis, the lymph nodes should be evaluated by physical examination and, in some patients, an MRI or CT scan is appropriate.

I would also encourage you to seek consultation from colleagues, such as those in ENT, in high-risk patients.
