Recognizing Skin Cancer in Older Adults -- Malignant Melanoma
Now what constitutes a high risk patient?
There are several factors that would lead one to believe that a patient may be at risk of metastasis from their melanoma.
- The first thing is tumor thickness. This will be noted on a pathology report from the biopsy of the melanoma and will be listed as the Breslow thickness or the Clark's level.
- This is the thickness of the tumor as measured by the pathologist under the microscope and will be given in millimeters of thickness.
