Recognizing Skin Cancer in Older Adults -- Malignant Melanoma

The second most common type of melanoma is superficial spreading melanoma.

This usually presents as a macule studded with little papules -- that is, a patch with bumps in it. It usually has multiple colors, but it may include black, brown, red, white or blue.

It typically occurs in sun-exposed areas. It should be noted that it's more common on the trunk of males and the legs of females.
