However, I emphasize again the requirement that the ECG be performed during chest pain and not during a chest pain-free interval.
If on the other hand the ECG is abnormal in any way, e.g. ST segment deviation, T wave inversion, PVC's, or atrial fibrillation, etc., there should be a higher level of suspicion that the origin of the pain is related to the heart whether it be ischemia, pericarditis or infarction.
