Case 2
Jenny White, a 69-year old woman, is awakened by pain in the right upper quadrant of her abdomen but has no nausea or vomiting. She goes to the emergency room and, on examination, her vital signs are normal, as are her amylase and liver function test.
She is tender in the right upper quadrant. An ultrasound of the abdomen shows no gallstones. She is thought to have acute cholecystitis.
