Immunization of Older Adults
- It is recommended that a one time revaccination be given in 5 years for patients in the highest risk groups, including those with no spleen, sickle cell disease, HIV, malignancy, renal insufficiency or transplant patients.
- It is also recommended that patients be revaccinated at age 65 if they received the vaccine for cardiac or pulmonary disease when they were in their 40's or 50's.
