Shingles/Herpes Zoster
In children and susceptible adults, it initially appears as chickenpox. There are about 3 million annual cases of chicken pox.
- It is transmitted by the respiratory route and is therefore highly contagious to other people. The incubation period is about 14 days.
- Clinically, the patients present with fever and a vesicular rash in varying stages of healing.
