Controlling Infectious Disease -- Gram-negative bacteria

With regard to other the multi-resistant Gram-negative bacteria that one may see in the elderly, the other major problem has been the development of multi-resistant Gram-negative bacteria in this population.

This has resulted clearly also from the transposition of bacteria from the hospital situation into the nursing home but to some extent this is being driven by the inappropriate use of cephalosporins and quinolone antibiotics within the nursing home situation.
