For years now the problem of Methicillan-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections has been prevalent in nursing homes and indeed many nursing homes still have a policy of not admitting patients who are carriers of methicillan-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
In fact, it is now considered by many institutions that nursing homes may be one of the primary sites for the acquisition and transmission of methicillan-resistant Staph aureus infections into general community hospitals.
