"Not Going Home Again" -- Loss of Home

Five percent of the elderly population in the United States permanently resides in a nursing home.

People have a number of different reactions to being placed in a nursing home, but certainly it is a devastating experience to be forced to abandon one's home, one's familiar surroundings and belongings, to live in a place which is largely impersonal and sometimes cold, where your allotted space consists of a bed, a chest and sometimes a chair.
