"Not Going Home Again" -- Loss of Home

"So, now they think they can shove me in here because I can't take care of myself very well and can't talk. I've had a stroke before and I got better. I was able to live at home again. Sure, I used a walker and I was pretty slow getting dressed, but I like my home, I did fine there.

While I was still in the hospital that little speech therapist traipsed into my room and told me I couldn't learn to talk again and that she'd teach me sign language instead. Sign language at my age! Then she looked at the arthritic fingers on my one good hand..."
