Storytelling time...

When the first slaves were brought to America, they were taken from the Western part of Africa. Obviously the languages spoken were diverse as slaves were taken from many countries.

The first slaves were then responsible for creating a language that incorporated the sounds they were hearing in American, Standard English, and the combination of languages they brought with them into an acceptable, simple way of speaking.
