Prayer first, acknowledging that there was a power greater than oneself, then there was the red awful-tasting medicine which was used toward the prevention of round worms. This was followed by number three, which was a plate of biscuits, bacon and syrup.

From the eyes of a little girl of six or less, these were the largest biscuits that I had ever seen. The problem was the taste left in my mouth after my grandma's holistic approach to health care was never forgotten -- she was sure to get the worms! Along with this memory comes all of the times I have relied on an elder for directions.
