The health care provider must remember that cultural influences are significant in the way of thinking and health care practices of the Hispanic individual, but that the prevalence of some attitudes, beliefs or practices may differ from one subgroup to another and at many instances may not be present among others.
Folk medicine, for example, the use of home remedies including herbs with medicinal properties, and the assistance of traditional healers may be incorporated by individuals of various Hispanic subgroups.
