Language is another issue. It may present a significant barrier for the Hispanic individual who does not dominate the English language and is served by English-speaking health care providers.

• Even the English-speaking Hispanic may have difficulties discussing personal or emotional problems, or expressions of love, anger or hate may not have the same meaning if not described in their native language.
