This Activity was
created and instituted by minority students at the University of Florida
College Of Medicine (UF COM). Its purpose is to introduce you to the
Hispanic American Medical Student Association (HAMSA) and the Student
National Medical Association (SNMA) as well as, provide you with a
unique experience to revisit the UF COM. HAMSA and SNMA are both student
organizations developed to address the problems of minority under – representation
in the health care professions as well as being an advocate for minorities
and the problems that specifically affect us. We hope that you will
take this opportunity to help solidify your decision to join us here
at UF. Any accredited medical school can give you an excellent education.
It takes a special institution to notice, accept and attempt to increase
diversity as well as foster an excellent education of all of its students,
despite ethnic or social disparities. The UF COM cares about ALL of
its students including the minority members and thus, we all can thrive
in this environment. The members of the UF COM chapters of BOTH the
HAMSA and SNMA would like to take this opportunity to congratulate
you on your admission and welcome you to our familia. |
